[/caption] This weekend was the Richmond Street Rod Nationals at Richmond Raceway. We had two locations on the compound, Big Red with Funnel Cakes, Corn Dogs, Ribeye Steak Sandwiches and Fresh Squeezed Lemonade, and our tent set up with Gyros, Italian Sausage, Lemonade and Funnel Cakes. Friday was terribly slow and an afternoon thunderstorm ended the day early.  Saturday was busy with bottled drinks and lemonade but unusually slow sales on food.  Sunday was a little better than Friday but not by much.  From a strictly business standpoint, it was about a break even weekend. [/caption] The show ended at 5pm on Friday and Saturday and 3pm on Sunday.  I think the promoters would be better served opening a little later and staying open during the evening hours.  I know the food vendors would have fared much better. There were some positives to the weekend however.  It was the first time Big Red had joined with my friend Salim of Amira Enterprises to offer Italian Sausage and Gyros.  We'll be selling gyros at the NASCAR races at Richmond in two weeks at our stand inside the raceway. [/caption] And, for a couple old fogeys like Peggy and me, it was a fun show.  With all the old cars coming past, one of us had a story from our pasts about almost every car.  They also kept really good music playing so I wanted to dance most of the time. Even though it wasn't a great sales weekend, Saturday was busy.  Busy enough that Peggy spent most of the day squeezing lemons.  I was selling lemonade as fast as she could produce  it.  We did something like 40 gallons for the day.  The downside, I only did 45 funnel cakes and 10 ribeye sandwiches, which is nothing. [/caption] I'm at the farm today only and leave for Woodbridge Tuesday morning for the last 7 game home stand of the Potomac National's season.  I keep hoping that Nationals General Manager Mike Rizzo will call up the funnel cake guy from the P Nats to the majors, but that isn't likely.  Then I'm back home for a day to get ready for the races at Richmond and to get Tank and Big Red set up for Liberty's first football game. For the next two weeks since I'm on the road full time, I'll be sending updates via my phone to Twitter.  Anyone needing me, send a DM  at Twitter.com/chilliefalls. I recieve those on my phone also.
