Big Red and ACS

Big Red has entered into an agreement with the American Cancer Society and their Relay For Life program in this region covering a good bit of Virginia.  Janet Reynolds, Regional Director of ACS and I met tonight and laid the groundwork for a program that hopefully will be beneficial to both of us. In this region, there are 54 Relays.  Obviously, we can't be at all of them but there is a good chance that we might participate in one way or another in 30 or so.  At some, we might only do funnel cakes.  At others, we might do our full menu.  It depends on what corporate teams do and we don't want to compete with their fund raising efforts.  At most, we'll do breakfast plus the funnel cakes. In addition, a corporate team, lets say at XYZ Company, might use Big Red for a fund raiser at their business prior to the event.  We'd promote a day where Big Red will provide lunch and snacks for the employees and the proceeds will go to ACS with credit going to the Team. I truly believe its a great fit for us.  Jean and I are the son and daughter of a cancer survivor.  Mom had breast cancer in 1965 and is still kicking.  Peggy, her mother and both of her brothers are all survivors, plus her daughter, Allison, has leukemia.  And, it will give Big Red some tremendous exposure. Now its up to ACS.  Janet is meeting tomorrow with several of her relay folks.  We'll see how much they use us but I have a feeling we'll be really busy.
