Peggy: In Trouble Again

It seems like I haven't been at my desk for months.  If you could see the piles of junk, you'd believe it.  I know there is a desktop somewhere, but..... However, before I can catch up with a long list of updates, I'd better relate Peggy's latest round of problems.  It all started way back on her drive home from the Richmond RV show when she started getting sick.  Several days later, she was diagnosed with pneumonia.  So, she was put to bed for ten days.  I made a couple of trips to Harrisonburg on off days to help out a bit with Kagen and laundry and such but I'm never much help. She actually got out of bed for the Richmond Home Show and worked the weekend--probably a week too soon and went back to bed.  She's better now and is actually on her way to Lynchburg to help tomorrow with the NCAA Regional Wrestling Championships because Tank and Crew are paintballing and not available. Her recent illness has nothing to do with the troubles.  If she was more famous, she'd be right up there with Brittany.  Or Paris. Last week, she gave her grandson, Kagen, three brussel sprouts with his dinner.  He picked one up, stuck it in his mouth, rolled it around and it slipped out.  He peered at it for a minute.  Picked it up and rolled it around in his little fingers.  Put it back on the tray and smashed it.  Then he scooped up the goop and ate it.   He repeated the process for the other two and was quite pleased with himself. In Virginia, it is illegal to feed anything except bovine species brussel sprouts.  Peggy now faces another round of child endangerment charges.  Feeding a kid brussel sprouts is right up there with feeding him liver.  Thankfully, that one hasn't been repeated----yet! Last night brought an end to basketball season at Liberty.  Decent crowd for a womens game but brutal weather again.  Rained all night.  Last Tuesday, the men hosted the first round of the Big South Championships and the weather killed us again.  Driving rain and wind.  Made it tough on me.  The majority of games all year were rough due to the stupid weather and it was not a successful season for Big Red's crew.  We only had one really good game.  Three fair games where I broke even and a bunch that were just plainly loosers.  For the year, Tank and the boys made more money than I did.  And the sad part is that the girls are really good.  Best team Lynchburg has ever seem--25-3 or something like that.  I think they might have a legitimate shot at making it to the Sweet 16 round of the Big Dance.  And yet, the crowds just haven't been there. I'm not counting on alot with the wrestling on Sunday because I'm not convinced the crowds will be there.  But I strongly believe in supporting anything at Liberty whether I make any money or not.  I still can't figure out why football there is so tremendously successful--better than at other Virginia schools (with the possible exception of UVA and Va Tech)--and the other sports are not.  Sad but true. After last night's game, I stopped at a local restaurant to get a bite, and quite frankly, a couple of cocktails to help warm up and dry out.  While sitting there, I actually got hit on!!!!  Unfortunately, it wasn't by a lucious blond.  Not even a buxom brunette.  It was by a big black gay guy.  It made me feel so cheap. Afterwards, I dutifully reported it to Peggy and she asked, "Well, did he at least wear expensive cologne?" I didn't get close enough to smell. The Richmond Home Show was also a disappointment.  The attendance was down from previous years but the killing blow came from the corporate folks who put a Bar-B-Que Cart right next to me in the Old Dominion Building and pushed me back into a corner.  They also sold hot dogs and wouldn't let me even though I'd brought 400 dogs and buns for the weekend.  Plus, it was a terrible weekend for funnel cakes.  The only thing that saved me from another financial disaster was it was great weekend for steaks.  So good, in fact, I sent my sister to the butcher on Saturday to pick up three additional loins and drive them to me in Richmond. This week, Laura and I had our first almost decent auction since last fall.  The previous two weeks were horrible due to brutally cold days.  So bad, in fact, I didn't even cover my hotel bill.  I don't think it got above freezing either day.  Thursday was nice and warm.  The crowds better.  And at least I went thru 2 1/2 loins.  Not the four I was doing but better.  And since we were shorthanded, only from the one location down on the end away from the action.  I sure hope the nice weather continues in Fredericksburg. My other open days were spent at a couple of Walmarts but the weather hasn't been very cooperative there either.  And sales have been stinky. For now, I've got to do something with this desk.  And try to keep Peggy out of jail.
