My Planning Skills Suck, vol. 2 And A New Love Interest For Peggy
Sometimes, I can be dumb as a brick. I wasn't counting on a huge show at Richmond over the weekend but I thought it would be important as the new folks from Americrown would be there. And, it was Noah and Crew's last hurrah! Boy, was I wrong.
It was hu
ge! Best show I've ever had at Richmond and Saturday ranks third in the best day I've had. The only better days were the two high school state championship football games at Liberty and the one huge day at Belvedere in October.
Sold out of ribeyes and corn dogs and did several hundred chili dogs. So many in fact I had to make numerous runs to a nearby Walmart and kept buying them out of dogs and buns. We also did something like 15 cases of drinks. As it turned out, I could have done lemonade and tea also as the other vendor selling lemonade was setup miles from where I was in the Commonwealth Building and the volume was so high, we easily could have both done some squeezing. Next year for this show I'll go with my high volume setup like I used for the football games and a few other events. It was awesome.
In fact, on Saturday, four of us didn't stop from 10:30 until after 5:00pm when I finally got to smoke a cigarette.
Peggy had time to entice a new boyfriend. Sometime on Saturday, a gentleman, around 80 and walking with a cane, ordered a ribeye sandwich for himself, and hot dogs for his brothers, aged 79 and 74 respectively. About an hour later, the old codger came back to the booth--not an easy task for his cane and the crowds--to tell Peggy, "Best damn ribeye I've ever eaten."
Later, when she was going to the bathroom, Peggy saw him again, and he poked another vendor in the stomach with the end of his cane and said, "See that lady. She fixes a great ribeye. Go get one." With that said, he left. Peggy forgot to get his address or phone number, nor ask him if he had any money.
I just hope we impressed the new people enough that my schedule will reflect lots of weekends at Richmond.
It was also good as the rest of my week stunk. The mens basketball game on Tuesday was OK, but the womens game Saturday that Tank and the Buys did was awful. The late game was better but not a real winner. Thursday at the auction was pretty bad as well as it was bitter cold and not a good eating day.
Oh, well. It all comes out in the wash.
