Disasters Averted; Weekend Ends On High Note

OK.  So last week, I may have exaggerated ever so slightly about the damn snake.  Seemed huge to me.  So, I promise this week to be totally straight. Thursday started off perfectly normal.  A four loin day at the auction, weather was nice, and everything seemed rosy. I stopped on my way out of Fredericksburg to get gas and as I was walking across a marked pedestrian crossing from the pumps to the door to pay for my fuel, a stupid lady talking on her cell phone hit me going about 30 MPH.  It actually flipped my fat ass up in the air and I landed on her hood on my shoulder.  Not seriously hurt, I managed to get off a stream of expletives at her that would make my son proud.  The idiot driver was more concerned about her dented hood than whether I'd broken my hip or dislocated my shoulder. By Friday, I was sore allover.  My ear lobes even hurt.  But luckily, nothing was seriously injured and as unbelievable as it seems, I only had one bruise and it was on the wrong arm.  Go figure!  Someone explained that subconsciously when my pea brain realized I was going to get creamed, my body rolled with the impact and that cut down on the direct hit, eliminating any broken bones. Friday night was my first high school football game.  As lucky as we've been with the weather--the only really bad day was the storm in Fredericksburg while we were packing up--the skies opened as I was setting up and it poured.  And rained almost the entire game.  Due to the weather, Peggy decided against driving down from Harrisonburg, so I worked it alone.  Actually, I did better than I thought with the rain, but it was still a lousy day with sales less than half of what I should have done.  At least I got to watch a great football game which ended with EC Glass beating Jefferson Forest 23-17 when JF had an interception in the end zone with 6 seconds on the clock.  But, the cold rainy night didn't do much for my sore body. Saturday, I dorve to Harrisonburg for the JMU game against VMI.  Not only was it a gorgeous day--remember last week it was about 150 degrees--the weather was perfect.  Nice and cool plus the most crystal blue skies I think I've ever seem.  And, we were BUSY.  More than double what we did last week and right up there as one of our  best games ever.  After the game, I even got home in time to see the end of the Kentucky-Louisville game where my Wildcats upset the Cardinals, much to Jason and my grandson's dismay. This week is my lightest week of the fall as we only have the auction on Thurday and the JMU-Coastal Carolina game Saturday night.  Maybe I'll celebrate Yom Kippur on Friday.  Can a Presbyterian celebrate Yom Kippur????????  Or maybe I'll see about a high school game somewhere.  We'll see.
