Richmond and All Of Those Women

Our set up at Richmond International Raceway Complex for the Southern Womens Show was a little different this weekend. We were assigned space in the cafeteria area right outside the main exhibition hall. Peggy worked the booth and I was outside with Big Red doing the cooking---muzzle in place. After a little trial and error with the set up, we got it right by Sunday and really got slammed. All in all, a most successful weekend. And, Big Red got to welcome a new member to our little family. Joe Pollard, who looks a little like Danny Glover, served as a runner to take cooked product from me inside to Peggy for sales. Joe is acquainted with just about everyone in the Richmond area and probably knows more about the food service business than Peggy and I combined. He was a great addition to the team and will be with us anytime we're in Richmond. His wife also works for Noah at RIR along with his friend Angelo and his mother, plus Noah's staff I've known from previous trips to Richmond, which added up to an almost family atmosphere for the weekend. It was really fun. Peggy did allow me to remove the muzzle and come inside when she needed to take a break so I got to sling a few chili dogs and decorate some funnel cakes in addition to manning the fryer. During one of these breaks, Peggy was in the restroom where an attractive lady, who I think was one of the makeup specialists, was standing before the mirror adjusting things, and said, "Damn. I can't get my SPANX right." Can someone please tell me what the hell that means? No one seems to know. And, I sure don't. In the meantime, Tank and crew had a pretty good double header at Liberty on Friday followed by another screw up by someone. On Saturday, the game was changed from 1:00 pm to noon, but nobody told us. So Tank arrived to start setting up to find a game in the bottom of the third inning and people fussing because we weren't open. Frankly, I'll be glad when softball season is over. Next weekend, we're back at Wards Road Walmart while I look for new and exciting things to do. Maybe I can get the pool open so Big Red's Cleaning Crew can learn to swim this summer.
